'Magasin Finnmarksløpet' is done and was distributed throughout Norway with the Tromsø-based newspaper Nordlys on January 15th. Finnmarksløpet was awarded the Northern Norwegian Marketingprize for Tourism 2010 during the event "Nord i Sør" onboard the Hurtigruta Cruiseship MS Trollfjord that was docked in Oslo.

As of today the number of registered participants in FL2010 is record high! The two classes of the race have never before been as big, nor as strong considering the mushers who are going to compete. www.finnmarkslopet.no will present some of the mushers for both classes. First, the veteranene Robert Sørlie and Kjell Brennodden.

As FL2010 marks the 30 year anniversary for the race, Polaris Norway, sponsor of Finnmarksløpet over many years wishes to do something special. Again Polaris surprises and gives an ATV as first prize in both the 1000 km and the 500 km class!

Today, December 1st at midnight, is the deadline to register for Finnmarksløpet 2010. Those who register after midnight today are considered latecomers and will start in the order that they register - after the ones in their class who have registered in time.

Jotka fjellstue - Jotka Mountain Inn, the first checkpoint of Finnmarksløpet needs your assistance from now on and through the winter. Training dogs and running the Inn will be the main tasks. If you, for a period of time, would like to do something very different in fantastic surroundings, then this is perfect for you.

Rica Hotel Alta and other places offering overnight accommodation are already now, 4 months before Finnmarksløpet, fully booked Thursday and Friday before the start. Alta Sled Dog Club and Finnmarksløpet hope that people will open their private homes to mushers who need a place to stay.

Finnmarksløpet AS is selected as winner of the 2009 Growth-in-the-North prize for businesses. - Unbelievable, but true! Among the 58 nominees from the three northernmost counties; Nordland, Troms and Finnmark, we ended up as winners, says an enthusiastic Gro Anett Olaussen.

This is the winner of the photo-contest announced by Finnmarksløpet. Winning 1st prize means that the photo will be the official poster for Finnmarksløpet 2010. 2010 is also the 30 year anniversary for the race. Photographer Øyvind Nordahl Næss sent his shot right before the deadline. - Luckily, I remembered, says a happy Nordahl Næss.

The French film photograper Thibaut Branquart has followed musher Emil Inauen from Switzerland. The viewers join a journey from Switzerland to La Grande Oyssèe and to Finnmarksløpet. You may watch the film promo here.

Norges hundekjørerforbund, the Norwegian Sled-dog Association, decided during their recent board meeting in October that Finnmarksløpet gets the Norwegian Championship for the 8-dog-teams in 2010. Frode Galaaen, the director of TKS, NHF writes this in an e-mail to Alta trekkhundklubb, the Alta Sled-dog Club.

The race will have a new and diefferent location for its race-track between Jotka and Skoganvarre. 140 mushers had signed up for Finnmarksløpet 2010 before the deadline to participate in the first draw for startnumbers. Fabrizio Lovati from Italy starts first in the 1000 km, and Magnus Voie from Alta/Svartlamon is first musher out in the 500 km race.

The number of mushers and sled-dog teams that sign up for Finnmarksløpet 2010 is increasing every day. Never before have so many registered in the month of September. Only 92 participants had registered by this time last year. The favourites, outsiders and adventurers - almost all of them have already registered for Finnmarksløpet 2010.

1st prize for the victory of Finnmarksløpet 2010 and 2011 - best total result - is another cabin form the cabinfactory 'Saltdalshytta'. The value of the cabin is more than NOK 500 000. Trond Ørslien from Auggedalen won the first 'Saltdalshytta' for his performances in 2008 and 2009.
