FL 1000: Rare achievement

If Jo Are Brennodden did it on purpose or if he justed had to make use of the dogs that were left, should be left unsaid. He was however surprisingly lucky with a dog that is a mix between huskey and vorster.

If you mix a vorster (pronounced”forster”) and a huskey, the name obviously has to be :Fuskey. Even though Fuskey reportedly was not a deliberate experiment, but rather a result of mating in a inattentive moment, it appears that the result is successful. Fuskey has actually completed FL1000 which is a great achievement for a breed not designed for long-distance racing. Bird dog mixes are commonly used in sprints and middle-length races because they are powerful and fast.

Surprisingly long- lasting

-I did not expect to have him with me all the way to the finish, says Jo Are Brennodden and gives Fuskey a good hug. He has not been given any special treatment, and has preformed continuously throughout the race together with the other dogs. –I might have raced in a way that suited him well, Brennodden adds. He arrived in Karasjok with 13 dogs. – The only problem with Fuskey is that he chews on the ropes. I think he has destroyed 15 of them, Brennodden says with a smile.
