FL 1000: Rare achievementVerfasser: Erlend R. Strand/Therese Hagerup (transl.) Datum: 19.03.10 10:03
If Jo Are Brennodden did it on purpose or if he justed had to make use of the dogs that were left, should be left unsaid. He was however surprisingly lucky with a dog that is a mix between huskey and vorster. If you mix a vorster (pronounced”forster”) and a huskey, the name obviously has to be :Fuskey. Even though Fuskey reportedly was not a deliberate experiment, but rather a result of mating in a inattentive moment, it appears that the result is successful. Fuskey has actually completed FL1000 which is a great achievement for a breed not designed for long-distance racing. Bird dog mixes are commonly used in sprints and middle-length races because they are powerful and fast.
Surprisingly long- lasting -I did not expect to have him with me all the way to the finish, says Jo Are Brennodden and gives Fuskey a good hug. He has not been given any special treatment, and has preformed continuously throughout the race together with the other dogs. –I might have raced in a way that suited him well, Brennodden adds. He arrived in Karasjok with 13 dogs. – The only problem with Fuskey is that he chews on the ropes. I think he has destroyed 15 of them, Brennodden says with a smile. . |
