Biggest ever!

Author: Hans Petter Dalby og Ann-Kristin Laeskogen         Publish date: 03.02.10 14:30

As of today the number of registered participants in FL2010 is record high! The two classes of the race have never before been as big, nor as strong considering the mushers who are going to compete.

www.finnmarkslopet.no will present some of the mushers for both classes. First, the veteranene Robert Sørlie and Kjell Brennodden.

Robert Sørlie, Jeppedalen - Hurdal

Robert Sørlie is called the "freight train from Jeppedalen”.

Surely with reason. Robert Sørlie is Norway's most winning musher in long-distance sled-dog racing.

Among other races, he has won the Arctic Barents Race, Amundsen Race, Femundløpet 9 times, Finnmarksløpet 3 times and the World's longest sled-dog race Iditarod twice. He also won the title Rookie of the year in his Iditarod debut in 2002.

Robert Sørlie is known to have a unique relation with his dogs, in addition to being very competitive. Robert Sørlie lives in Jeppedalen in Hurdal municipality, and works as a firefighter at Oslo Airport Gardermoen. In 2010 Robert Sørlie is competing in the 1000 km race for the first time since 2001.

Maybe he wishes to switsh his cabin in Grøndalen to a new one: the prize - a "Saltdalshytte".
Robert Sørlie says this about Finnmarksløpet: None over - none beside. Finnmarksløpet is special!

Kjell Brennodden, Folldal

Kjell Brennodden is an experiences musher in long-distance racing. He has raced FL1000 12 times over the last 13 years and has two second places, in 2007 and 2009 as his best result.

Brennodden is managing Frankmotunet which is part of Tyrilistiftelsen. He is an outstanding mentor and coach for those at Frankmotunet who want to mush, and many teams from Folldal participate in the Femundløpet 400 km with great results.

Kjell Brennodden is a warm and humorous 'folldøl' (person from Folldal) who lives life to the fullest and always likes to share a good story. His two sons Jo Are and Ola are coming up fast behind him on the tracks, both have done well in the sport. However, Kjell Brennodden is still going strong, and after getting a seat at the back of his sled he can look forward to many more years as a musher. That is good!

Kjell Brennodden feels this about Finnmarksløpet: Pure obsession!
